CALENDAR OF EVENTS
DIALOGUES ON NURSING’S ROLE IN INDIGENOUS HEALTH IN BC
Beginning in January, look for a series of dialogues that will align with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission calls to action, hosted by Nursing’s Cultural Safety Strategic Initiatives Committee (CSSIC). Details to be announced on our events page.

Nursing Leadership, Excellence, and Best Practice within Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD)

EDGE ARTS FESTIVAL

In our centenary year our popular Edge Film Festival alternates with our first Edge Arts Festival. Watch our events page for further details about this one-evening event to be held in mid- to late April, and plan to be captivated by theatre, photography, painting, gaming, and other arts that originate from or disseminate the findings of ground-breaking UBC Nursing Research.

At our annual gala we celebrate the gifts and talents of our colleagues and partners. In our centenary year, we will expand our programme to honour 100 amazing individuals who have offered brilliant contributions to health, wellness, and nursing education.

ORIENTATION OF THE CENTENARY CLASS
Each year we choose our students from a pool of remarkable, clever, and astonishingly accomplished applicants, but this year each one also has the distinction of being among the 100th cohort of nursing students to attend our school and will be recognized with a special welcome during their orientation.
VERNA HUFFMAN SPLANE PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING LECTURE
A Member of the Order of Canada, Dr. Verna Huffman Splane was a public health nurse and an internationally recognized health leader and champion of global health. Dr Huffman Splane became the first woman Chief Nursing Officer in the Canadian Department of National Health and Welfare, holding the highest office of any nurse in the country. A lecture supported by her endowment to the school is planned for late September/early October. Please check our events page for further details.
MARION WOODWARD LECTURE
This annual event, made possible through the generous support of the Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Woodward’s Foundation, takes place at Robson Square on a Thursday in November from 7 to 8:30 pm. Plans for the 2019 Marion Woodward Lecture will be finalized in the summer of 2019, and details will be posted on our events page.
The Afternoon Symposium offers an opportunity for a brief panel discussion on a companion topic to the Lecture. Plan to attend from 5:30 to 7 pm.
