Please join a series of sessions spanning from 9 am to 4 pm on Friday, July 3, 2026, at The University of Victoria (UVic).
"Realist Review in Action"--14:15 pm to 15:15 pm, with professor emeritus Dr. Maura MacPhee.
This session brings realist reviews to life through two applied case studies, demonstrating both their practical value and methodological depth.
Dr. Maura MacPhee presents a review conducted in partnership with the Medical Director of Long-Term Care at Fraser Health to walk through the key methodological steps of a realist review. This case will emphasize the critical role of identifying underlying mechanisms, as well as the importance of sustained stakeholder engagement.
The second presentation (Dr. Nancy Clark - UVic) explores a realist review on integrated mental health care for refugees, illustrating how context-sensitive findings can inform more responsive and equitable service delivery for complex populations.
