Life is expensive, but students have more important things to think about than finances. That's why the Registered Nurses Foundation of B.C. (RNFBC) has provided bursaries to 129 UBC School of Nursing students.
February 23, 2026
Ellen M. Kaine, account manager at RNFBC, reached out to congratulate our students who took advantage of this funding in 2025, and to encourage others to join their ranks. And UBC students are not the only recipients. Ms. Kaine points out:
RNFBC is thrilled to have been able to assist nursing students by providing 677 bursaries in 2025. For the first time, we also provided bursaries for nurses taking certificate courses. We received 2,976 applications for bursaries in 2025 proving that students as a group are highly impacted by the increased cost of tuition, rent, food and transportation.
In its 47th year of providing bursaries, RNFBC notes that the work has only been made possible with the generous support of donors and a substantial grant from the Ministry of Health. The 2026 bursary cycle will commence on June 15, 2026.
