Three New Accolades for Dr. Meaghan Thumath
Green College Leading Scholar
Dr. Thumath has been provided with the opportunity to make connections with peers and foster interdisciplinarity with colleagues through the Leading
Scholars Program at Green College, the university's "exemplary incubator of interdisciplinary research and learning." With members of her cohort, which includes faculty from disciplines as far afield as Materials Engineering, Law, Forest Resources Management and Creative Writing, Dr. Thumath will meet several times over the winter as a group over lunch at the college. This team-building is followed up with support to develop an academic series as part of the college's interdisciplinary programming, which aims to invite visitors and foster academic communities. The series may, if the cohort has interest, "culminate in further collaborative interdisciplinary research and publication."
Ministry of Health STARS Award
Dr. Thumath's team was selected from among three nominees by the BC Ministry of Health's Population and Public Health (PPH) for Cultivating Collaboration with their The Strengthening Public Health Initiative Dashboard Development Project. While their paper is still under development, their accomplishment "stands out as a testament to excellence and meaningful impact," according to Maryna Korchagina, Assistant Deputy Minister, PPH.
2026 Governor General's Canadian Leadership Conference Member
Dr. Thumath is "one of 250 emerging Canadian leaders from business, government, labour and other sectors who are about to embark on a unique and intensive 15-day program starting on Friday, May 22, 2026" in Québec City, Québec. According to Monique Leroux, Conference Chair, the 2026 GGCLC promises to be intense.
