Ash Scott displays his IMSH Best Approach award

IMSH is the Society for Simulation in Healthcare’s flagship global conference and the leading international forum for innovation in healthcare simulation. This award recognizes the combination of strong educational design with a rigorous development approach.

IMSH 2026, held January 10–14 in San Antonio, Texas, gathered thousands of simulation leaders, educators, clinicians, and industry innovators under the theme “UNBOUND,” celebrating the field’s limitless potential for collaboration, inclusion, and transformative growth. Over five days of hands-on workshops, inspiring plenaries, and extensive industry showcasing, IMSH reinforced its reputation as the premier venue for advancing simulation to improve patient safety.

Within this vibrant environment, the SimVentors Showcase highlighted cutting-edge ideas in healthcare simulation, from emerging technologies and virtual environments to DIY task trainers and serious games. Acceptance into this curated showcase signals that a project has been selected as part of IMSH’s innovation ecosystem, placing it directly in front of leaders and decision-makers in a dynamic, high-contact format. Presenters engage directly with judges, attendees, and vendors as they demonstrate their innovations in a dedicated exhibit-hall setting.

Entries in the SimVentors Showcase are evaluated by a panel of esteemed judges, who conduct structured, in-person reviews and score each project across three categories: Best Impact, Best Innovation, and Best Approach.

Mr. Scott's Best Approach award for his project, Evaluating the Usability of an AI-Driven VR Simulation for Nurse Practitioner OSCE Preparation, recognizes the entry whose design process demonstrates the highest level of merit. This distinction showcases the project’s methodological strength—its thoughtful problem definition, rigorous design logic, clear pathway from concept to implementation, and credible potential for real-world use.

This award highlights innovations that aren’t just clever—they are well-built, with a development approach that stands up to expert scrutiny and sets the stage for meaningful impact.

Congratulations, Ash Scott, on this outstanding achievement and on representing exemplary innovation in healthcare simulation at IMSH 2026.
