Some awards you receive once and treasure. Others, it turns out, you earn twice.

Dr. Nassim Adhami, Assistant Professor of Teaching at UBC Nursing, has been awarded the AMS Just Desserts Award for the second time — recognized once again by UBC's student societies for her exceptional service and dedication to the students she teaches.
Initiated in 1984, the Just Desserts Award commemorates the spirit of service of UBC students, faculty members, and staff. It is given on the recommendation of undergraduate and graduate student societies to members of the UBC community who have shown outstanding passion in the spirit of service throughout the year — and its playful name carries a deliberate pun: "just deserts" (what a person deserves), spelled with the extra s because, originally, the awards were presented at a reception where just desserts were served.
For Dr. Adhami, a second recognition speaks to something consistent and sustained — not a standout year, but a pattern of care that students continue to notice and name. Read about her first Just Desserts Award in 2023.
Congratulations, Dr. Adhami. You have, once again, gotten your just desserts.
