Congratulations to Dr. Sabrina T. Wong, recipient of the 2026 Helen Nahm Research Lecture Award in honour of her outstanding contributions to nursing science and research.

On May 6, 2026 as part of Nursing Week celebrations, Dr. Wong returned to her alma mater to accept the prize and to present the keynote address, "Informing and Transforming Primary Care: Lessons from the Canadian Primary Care Research Network." The 45th ceremony for this award took place at Genentech Hall on the University of California - San Francisco's (UCSF) Mission Bay campus.
An alumna of the UCSF School of Nursing, Dr. Wong is a leading expert in the area of primary health care in Canada and internationally. She is a professor at the UBC School of Nursing, and a faculty member of UBC's Centre for Health Services and Policy Research. Dr. Wong is the recipient of multiple National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Canadian health research career and operating grant awards. She is also the first woman of Asian ethnicity to hold the position of scientific director at the National Institute of Nursing Research where she worked with her NIH intramural colleagues to further research on the social determinants of health.
