Summits of Hope for BC Children's Hospital
01 Feb 2016
We in the School of Nursing are proud to support Vicky Bungay and husband Tobias Vlasblom as they journey to the summit of mount Aconcagua for charity. Here's what Vicky tells us about the project:
Established in 1999, Summits of Hope is an officially registered not for profit association and an official partner of the BC Children's Hospital Foundation. We think the Children's Hospital is a great place to donate the funds we raise. They fund some of the best research in the world, improve the quality of life of sick children, educate and provide care for those children who need it most. Every year, Summits of Hope teams set out on expeditions to adventure destinations all over our planet as part of our fundraising. Our next trek is to Aconcagua, one of the world's seven summits. It is the highest mountain in the world outside of the Himalayan range. The team is heading out on February 2nd and will provide live updates of their progress.
Two of our Applied Science alumni are part of this team. Dr. Vicky Bungay (Nursing 2008) and Tobias Vlasblom (Civil Engineering 1995) – we also happen to be married.
