School of Nursing at UBC Receives CASN Award
15 Nov 2019
We are delighted to announce that the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) has selected UBC’s School of Nursing to receive the 2019 CASN Institutional Outstanding Achievement Award. This honour recognizes “the outstanding contribution of a CASN Member School that has had an important impact on the advancement of nursing education in Canada and on the profession.”
Over the year we have been celebrating the launching of The School of Nursing at UBC in 1919, which marked a new era for nursing across the country. At CASN’s Annual Awards Reception in Ottawa on Monday, November 18th, the School will be recognized “for its introduction of the first baccalaureate nursing program in Canada, and the importance this groundbreaking initiative in nursing education has had on the advancement of nurses and healthcare in Canada.”
We are privileged to accept this award on behalf of the generations of wise, forward-thinking, and determined nurses who have made each of these past 100 years an indisputable success at UBC. We also acknowledge the contributions of each one of our faculty, active or retired, whose dedication has been instrumental in keeping our school among the top three nursing programs in Canada, and to all our colleagues who continue to add innumerable gifts to the School’s ongoing legacy.
