### Profile

## Bio

My research focus is on global women’s health and primary health care. My program of research sits at the intersection of the reproductive and cardiovascular health of postpartum women. I am a co-director of the BC Primary Health Care Research Network (BC-PHCRN) at the UBC Center for Health Services and Policy Research (CHSPR). As part of the BC-PHCRN work, I have been leading multiple research and quality improvement projects in BC. My work entails extensive research to identify the data gaps and opportunities for action in meeting the needs of global women’s health and improving care delivery in primary healthcare settings, mainly through collaboration, partnerships, and knowledge translation.

**Current projects**

***Optimization of cardiovascular health in postpartum women with reproductive and pregnancy-related risk factors***
This research project will expedite the development and adoption of a CVD risk prediction tool specific to postpartum women, for use in primary health care settings.

***BC-Primary Health Care Research Network (BC-PHCRN)***
Primary health care research and quality improvement projects (<https://spor-bcphcrn.ca/projects/>)

***A global perspective on cardiovascular health interventions: What works and for whom?***
This study will explore a global perspective on context specific effective CVH interventions that could help policy makers in decision-making to prioritize interventions and make a greater impact at the national level and in due course at the global level.

***Influence of sex and gender on adherence to self-care behaviours for cardiovascular disease risk management in the global context***
This study will enhance the understanding on broader dimensions of gender-related factors impacting self-care behaviour adoption in different contextual settings that will help in the discussion of broader notions of CVD risk management nationally and globally. Furthermore, it will help in the promotion of self-care as a suitable intervention strategy in response to the high incidence of CVD worldwide.
