The Office of Nursing Research & Teaching Scholarship (ONRTS) aims to provide timely support to aid UBC Nursing researchers to identify and apply for research funding. This includes assistance with obtaining institutional approval for funding applications.

In general, UBC requires a preview of the application in advance of their providing institutional approvals in either hardcopy or electronically. Elements of the application that are required in advance include:

- Title Page;
- Agency Signature Page (*if applicable*);
- Abstract or Summary of Proposed Project;
- Agency Ethics Certification Requirements;
- Budget and accompanying financial information; and
- Letters of support for any matching funds (*if applicable*).

For electronic submissions, this creates a double internal deadline:

- **Nursing internal deadline**: 1 business day before UBC deadline - for dept head sig on RPIF
- **UBC internal deadline**: 5 business days before sponsor’s deadline
- **Applicant’s web submission deadline**: 2 business days before funder’s deadline
- **Funder’s deadline**: UBC to click final submission button on funder’s online system

        - CIHR Institution page - no ink signature is required from UBC ORS because the institution is participating in the Electronic Approval Project. This means that when ORS approves your application online and submits it to CIHR via ResearchNet.
    - *You may continue to work on your online proposal after you have submitted your application package to ORS. Your final electronic application should be submitted via ResearchNet*

### 2025 SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship





UBC postdoctoral applicants apply directly to the funder, so a UBC Research Project information Form (RPIF) is not required at this stage. However, the SSHRC postdoc application does require an Institutional nomination and commitment form to be completed by the Department Head. The Director of the School of Nursing requests that related materials and formal request be provided 3-weeks in advance of the funder's deadline. ### 2024 Killam Postdoctoral Fellow Research Prize





UBC Nursing Internal Deadline: Pending - **usually in October**

For the internal selection process, the nomination package should only include:

1. Nomination Letter
2. Nominee CV
3. Nomination Form

Once the nominee for the Faculty of Applied Science is identified, they will be asked to seek the 2 required support letters from arm’s length referees and to complete the required nomination form.
