In 2019, a four-year Participatory Action Research project funded by the Canadian Institute of health Research began. In this study, academic researches (led by Alison Phinney, Jim Mann & Deborah O'Connor) and people with lived expertise of dementia (an Action Group) came together as co-researchers to address the stigma and discrimination that so frequently accompany a diagnosis of dementia.
Please join the Action Group and member of the Research Team at our next colloquium where they will be discussing how this project came about and what it has been like to participate in this study. Team members will also be introducing the Flipping Stigma on its Ear Toolkit, one of the main outcomes of the research project.
You can find the toolkit at: www.flippingstigma.com
CRPiD colloquiums are intended to provide an opportunity for open discussions amongst people with dementia and their family members, health professionals and researchers
