Over the years, the School of Nursing has been proud to recognize our ALUMNI with three awards. We have honoured numerous PARTNERS with two important awards, and we acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our PRECEPTORS with two additional awards. Please take the time to consider an individual associated with the school of nursing for one of these accolades. Details of the awards and links to the nomination forms are provided below.
Alumni Recognition Awards
If you know a UBC Nursing alum who has made an exceptional contribution to nursing following the completion of their UBC Nursing education, then we want to hear from you. Each year we seek out those outstanding individuals so that we may recognize them during Nursing Week in the second week of May.
Nominations are now open for the 2024 School of Nursing Alumni Recognition Awards to be presented at the 2024 Nursing Gala.
Within a relatively short period after graduation (maximum 10 years), has demonstrated exceptional engagement in professional, civic, or community activities
Has made a significant impact by contributing to the advancement of nursing and bringing honour to the nursing profession at a Canadian and/or international level.
Has made a sustained and meaningful contribution to nurses and/or nursing at a local, community and/or provincial level.
Preceptor Awards
Recognize Excellence | Reward Knowledge | Recommend Your Preceptor
Two awards are available for recognizing the contributions of preceptors: The Erickson Kline Moerike Nurse Practitioner Preceptor Award and the Award for Excellence as a BSN Clinical Preceptor.
Erickson Kline Moerike Nurse Practitioner Preceptor Award
Mr. Mitchel Erickson and Mr. Martin Kline have established the Erickson-Kline-Moerike Nurse Practitioner Preceptor Endowment that will support a prize to recognize excellent NP preceptors in the Master of Nursing – Nurse Practitioner program in UBC School of Nursing. The prize will be awarded by the Director of the School of Nursing, based on nominations from current and recently graduated NP students, evaluated by a panel of Nursing faculty.
In order to be eligible to be nominated by a student, the preceptor must:
- Have worked as a preceptor with UBC NP students for at least 500 clinical hours
- Cannot receive this prize more than once every three years.
- NOTE: School of Nursing Faculty are not eligible for this prize.

Award for Excellence as a BSN Clinical Preceptor
UBC School of Nursing invites faculty or recent BSN graduates interested in recognizing a distinguished preceptor to nominate a preceptor for the Award for Excellence as a BSN Clinical Preceptor. A preceptor should demonstrate a commitment to Teaching, Excellence in Practice, and Fostering positive and respectful learning/practice environments.

Partner Awards
The School of Nursing is grateful to all its partners and donors who have made possible many of the School's initiatives and support for students throughout the years. Those who have made outstanding contributions are honoured with either the Donor Partnership Award or the Community Partnership Award. Recipients of these awards are determined without a formal nomination process. Nominations for this award are currently closed.
