Introduction to the Clinical Practice Placement Unit (CPPU)

The Clinical Practice Placement Unit (CPPU) is the clinical practice placements coordination team, and we serve as the direct link between the Health Authorities, external practice partners and the UBC School of Nursing (which includes you, the student). Clinical placements are provincially regulated across all nursing programs, and given how healthcare is highly regulated, it can be quite complex to navigate.
One of CPPU’s primary goals is therefore to ensure a coordinated, streamlined, and organized practice experience. We also hope to maintain transparent and equitable processes in alignment with the overall Ministry of Health (MOH) goals to support student practice experiences.
CPPU works collaboratively along with external partners, health care organizations, faculty and other schools of nursing to negotiate and secure placements. We coordinate practice placements, guide in the completion and storage of practice prerequisites, and facilitate systems accesses. CPPU is also responsible for Nursing Practice Educator recruitment, onboarding and support.
