Academic Resources for BSN Students

BSN Students who miss In-term Work or who miss a Final Exam for ALL courses offered by UBC School of Nursing and are requesting academic concession must submit this form within 48 hours of their absence or inability to complete graded work. If you are requesting academic concession for multiple courses (theory and/or practice) you must make a separate submission for each course. There is no limit to the number of times you can submit this form. Academic concessions are generally granted when students are facing an unexpected situation or circumstance that prevents them from completing graded work. Students may request an academic concession for unanticipated changes in personal responsibilities that create a conflict, medical circumstances, or compassionate grounds.

eLearning at the School of Nursing The application of learning technology has become a significant component of the teaching and learning environment in the School of Nursing (SoN). There are a variety of ways technology has been integrated including as a primary means of delivering courses and programs (distance learning), to support and enhance face-to-face learning experiences (blended learning) and to support the self-directed and self-regulated learning of students and faculty. Find Scholarly Papers A guide describing scholarly journals and using tools to locate scholarly journal articles.

Students are responsible to make every effort to complete assignments on time. Assignment submissions are expected on the date determined by faculty. If extensions are necessary, they may be requested up to 48 hours prior to the assignment due date, and should be submitted in writing to the faculty member involved. In exceptional situations, extension requests within the 48 hour period may be considered.

Canvas is UBC's primary learning platform for delivering online course content. In Canvas, instructors can share materials (text or multimedia), enable student collaboration and discussion, manage assignments and quizzes, and assign grades.

UBC's Canvas website for students includes an FAQ and links to training and support resources, as well as a Canvas blog, written by students on UBC's Learning Technology Environment Renewal project team.

There are four core nursing concepts that guide nursing practice in the UBC School of Nursing  Undergraduate Program.The Framework for Nursing Practice and the Needs Assessment Framework for Nursing Practice guide in understanding the four concepts and use in the assessment of the clients’ needs.
