Current projects
Cardiovascular health through a sex and gender lens
This study will explore and contrast the association between biological sex, socio-culturally constructed gender, cardiovascular health, and cardiovascular diseases amongst residents of South Asian (SA) countries, SA immigrants in Canada, and a Canadian population, using nationally representative surveys.
Influence of sex and gender on adoption of self-care behaviours
This study will enhance the understanding on broader dimensions of gender-related factors impacting self-care behaviour adoption in different contextual settings that will help in the discussion of broader notions of CVD risk management nationally and globally. Furthermore, it will help in the promotion of self-care as a suitable intervention strategy in response to the high incidence of CVD worldwide.
SPIDER (Structured Process Informed by Data, Evidence, and Research)
The Structured Process Informed by Data, Evidence and Research (SPIDER) will help primary care practices to optimize their management of patients with complex needs by combining a number of proven methods and leveraging existing Quality Improvement capacity, partnerships in primary care and EMR evaluation capacity. The main objective of the study is to assess the impact of SPIDER compared to usual care in reducing Potentially Inappropriate Prescriptions (PIPs) prescribed to patients aged 65 and older on ten or more medications.
