Successful applicants will be emailed an admission offer package containing important information regarding accepting the offer and paying the acceptance deposit, orientation session, immunization requirements, Criminal Records Check review, and British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) registration requirements.

As outlined in the UBC Academic Calendar, UBC School of Nursing students are required to comply with current regulations of the Provincial Health Authorities related to vaccine-preventable communicable diseases. Proof of immunization status must be made available upon request. Clinical sites may request this documentation from students at any time, and in preparation for or during clinical activities. Failure to provide documentation of immunization status may prevent a student from attending clinical practice, and thus may jeopardize a student’s ability to complete all program requirements.

The PHO Order of November 18, 2021 requires UBC to verify that faculty, staff, and students who are in a “care location” (such as hospitals and residential care facilities) for teaching, research, or associated administrative purposes to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The order also applies to contractors, volunteers or technical specialists who are in such locations. Access link to the Order. As such, UBC-V BSN Students will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination in order to participate in the program.

The School of Nursing's immunization policies for undergraduate students reflect the directive from the provincial government regarding their influenza immunization infection control policy. These measures, for all health care workers, include either receiving the influenza vaccination (the preferred option) or wearing a surgical/procedure mask during flu season.

All newly admitted students to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC), First Aid/CPR BLS Level for Healthcare certificate and N95 mask fitting test.

Applicants who have been convicted of any offence, or given an absolute or conditional discharge, should consult with BC Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General  and the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) before applying to the program.
