Elizabeth Kenny McCann Scholar Award

Deadline: Midnight, Monday, November 26, 2018

The purpose of the Elizabeth Kenny McCann Scholar Award is to support and enhance teaching/learning pedagogy and scholarship in the UBC School of Nursing (SoN). Building on the capacity and strengths within the faculty, the award supports leadership of an engaged and interactive process toward capitalizing on the unique expertise and diversity of students and creating the best learning environment possible within the context of a research intensive university.

The award is made possible through a fund developed in memory of Elizabeth Kenny McCann. Beth McCann was a leading force in the development of nursing education in British Columbia. A well loved faculty member in the School of Nursing for 35 years, she served in a variety of roles, including Acting Director. Most importantly she developed a special relationship with students and exemplified a student-centered approach to teaching and learning. In her honour, this scholar award will enable a faculty leader to support teaching/learning initiatives within the UBC School of Nursing. This will include devoting significant attention to optimizing the engagement of faculty in new and evolving pedagogical and curricular processes.

Applicants are invited to develop a written proposal of no more than 5 pages detailing their expertise and vision for providing leadership and faculty support in teaching and learning activities for the two year award period (January 1, 2019 - December 31, 2020).
