Late Scholarship: Fostering the research/advocacy/praxis dialectic

Drawing on lessons learned, we discuss a developing program of praxis-oriented research, that includes multiple voices and experiences, and interdisciplinary and intergenerational collaboration, that helps us take a long-term view on addressing issues such as poverty and health.
Joan Anderson: Background of current project & the challenges of sustainable knowledge exchange. Introduction of topic of praxis-oriented research that aligns with the United Nations Agenda 2030: Transforming Our World & the Sustainable Development Goals.
Panelists:
- Annette Browne: Worsening social and economic disparities that influence people’s health and quality of life. How might we move forward?
- Daniel Steel: What is science-based advocacy? And, how might we teach it in an interdisciplinary/ undergraduate context? (with Sheryl Reimer-Kirkham - in absentia)
- Paddy Rodney: How can we engage in respectful conversations with governments, policy makers and civil society to promote socially just health and health care policies?
- Joan Anderson (Rapporteur): Planning for the work ahead.
