From the Bedside to the Bench and Back: Effects of Early-life Stress on the Developing Brain

About

Time: 12-1pm

To RSVP, please email: HealthyStarts@bcchr.ca

Babies born prematurely (born <37 weeks gestation) spend several weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit where they are exposed to multiple stressors including pain, various treatments and prolonged separation from their mothers during a period of very rapid brain development. This talk will present recent evidence of the impact these early-life stressors have on the developing brain and behavioural outcomes in both premature infants and rodent pups.
