Dr. Nassim Adhami Receives Her "Just Desserts"

The Nursing Undergrad Society recently nominated Dr. Nassim Adhami for the Alma Mater Society's Just Desserts Award for going above and beyond in her service to an AMS constituency. Nassim received the award at the Just Desserts event on April 6, 2023 in the presence of members of the Nursing Undergrad Society.

I am extremely honoured and humbled to have been nominated by the students for the Just Dessert Awards. It came at such a critical time - a time that I have been really reflecting on what I want my role to be in students' journey during their nursing training.

About the AMS Just Desserts Award

Initiated in 1984, the Just Desserts Award commemorates the spirit of service of UBC students, faculty members, and staff. A fun fact: The name – ‘Just Desserts’ is a pun! It refers to the phrase “just deserts” meaning what a person deserves, but the spelling was changed to “desserts” because originally the awards were given at a reception at which just desserts were served, in contrast to the Great Trekker award, which was presented at a dinner.

The UBC Alma Mater Society (AMS) awards this distinction, with the recommendation of undergraduate and graduate student societies, to members of the UBC community who have shown outstanding passion and work in the spirit of service for students throughout the year.
