Dr. Rachel Ollivier, Adjunct Professor (Nursing), Clinical Assistant Professor (Medicine), and Nurse Practitioner at the BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre, has been recognized with the King Charles III Coronation Medal for her outstanding contributions to nursing and healthcare in Canada. The Canadian Nurses Association formally announced the honour on May 12, a fitting date marking International Nurses Day.

The award comes on the heels of another significant moment for Dr. Ollivier, who spoke at the BC Legislature on March 6 on behalf of BC Women’s Hospital. She addressed the media and other attendees during the announcement of a new Federal-Provincial Pharmacare initiative, which will provide coverage for menopause medications in British Columbia. Dr. Ollivier’s remarks highlighted the importance of accessible, evidence-based care for women navigating midlife health challenges—an area that has historically been underserved.

The Coronation Medal, created to mark the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, honours individuals who have made exceptional contributions to their communities and country. Dr. Ollivier’s work in nursing leadership, research, policy, advocacy, and advancing care for women and families were central to her nomination.
Whether advocating at the provincial level or being celebrated nationally, Dr. Ollivier continues to be a driving force in creating a more inclusive and responsive healthcare system—one that better supports women at every stage of life.
