Framing Your Research for Media Coverage

About

Time: 12-1pm

Editors, public affairs staff, and journalists make daily decisions on what is most relevant and compelling to their audiences. Learn ways to identify and frame the “story” in your research to help showcase your findings to a wider public.

BIO: Dr. Elizabeth Saewyc is a Professor of Nursing and Adolescent Medicine at UBC, and heads the Stigma and Resilience Among Vulnerable Youth Centre. For over 20 years, her research on stigma, trauma, risk and resilience among adolescents has placed her at centre stage in some of society’s most contentious public health and policy conversations.  She is an expert communicator with considerable success in engaging public media in contextualizing her findings and ensuring uptake in public policy discussions.
