Meagan Coman is a Registered Nurse and Director – Complex Care, Substance Use and Priority Populations with Vancouver Coastal Health. Meagan focuses on addressing housing vulnerability for individuals living with mental health and substance use concerns and supports the implementation of the provincial complex care housing framework. Her work also includes a focus on Youth Substance Use, as well as homelessness. She has strong expertise in population and public health, where she first worked as a direct care nurse and moved into policy and practice leadership roles. She has a particular interest and ability to contribute to the advancement of clinical practice and the health of individuals through the lens of equity and the social determinants of health. Meagan intersects public policy with direct service delivery for priority population groups. Meagan has served in a variety of global health settings where she implemented a trauma and violence informed approach to obstetric trauma and complex wound healing. Meagan holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master of Science in Nursing, with a focus on leadership, from the University of British Columbia.
