Internal Research Grants
If you are a graduate student or postdoctoral fellow seeking operating funds for research projects, or a UBC Nursing faculty researcher needing seed funding for a pilot or feasibility project, you are invited to submit a proposal to the bi-annual internal research competition.

- 5 pm for submission of a single merged .PDF file sent to ONRTS@nursing.ubc.ca
- Graduate students and post-doctoral fellows must have:
- A UBC School of Nursing faculty member as their primary supervisor
- Committee approval for thesis project related proposals
- Listed their primary supervisor as a co-investigator and have them sign the application
- A signed letter of support from their supervisor
- Adjunct faculty who are considering applying must partner with a tenure track faculty member to support the application process
These competitions are aimed at supporting upcoming projects; expenses incurred prior to the competition deadline are not eligible for reimbursement.

Research funds supporting this competition:
This fund is primarily intended to enhance research in nursing care related to adults, especially senior adults living with chronic conditions. Budget requests may be up to $3,000.
Preference will be given to master's students in the UBC School of Nursing, followed by doctoral nursing students as well as tenure track nursing faculty during the pre-tenure period.
This fund provides support for nursing education projects. Budget requests may be up to $3,000 (or up to $5,000 for faculty proposals).
Students and faculty in the UBC School of Nursing.
This fund provides support for research in nursing, specifically for the study of issues related to childbearing women and their families. Budget requests may be up to $3,000.
UBC School of Nursing faculty including tenure, tenure-track and continuing appointees; joint and adjunct appointees are eligible if collaborating with School of Nursing faculty or students as co-principal investigators or co-investigators; students in the School of Nursing. Preference will be given to faculty who are new investigators or faculty investigators embarking upon new areas of study. No investigator can concurrently hold more than one SON research grant as principal investigator or co-investigator with the exception of those in a supervisory role with students.
This fund provides support for research in public health in all of its forms including screening, early intervention, disease surveillance, health promotion, disease prevention, fostering self-care, and community empowerment. Budget requests may be up to $3,000.
