Program progression, failure, appeals, and re-admissions are in keeping with the regulations set out by the University of BC within the University Act and are clearly documented in the UBC Calendar under Academic Regulations.
Each nursing course syllabus includes grading practices and passing requirements that are reviewed at the beginning of every course. Program progression and advancement is based on academic grades in each course, and a Pass standing is mandatory for the practice component of all clinical courses prior to progression to the next level. The ‘Undergraduate Program Progressions Committee’ meets at the end of each term, and as necessary, to review the academic progress of each student.
All students who do not progress to the subsequent term are classified as one of the following: academic probation, academic failure, or program failure.
A student who fails a course for a second time, or fails two or more courses will be required to discontinue studies.
