Congratulations to UBC assistant professor of teaching, Dr. Cheryl Segaric, who was recently presented with a UBC Certificate on Curriculum and Pedagogy in Higher Education.
The International Program for the Scholarship of Educational Leadership: UBC Certificate on Curriculum and Pedagogy in Higher Education prepares academic leaders to develop expertise in scholarly approaches to, and the scholarship of educational leadership (SoEL) practices within and across diverse disciplinary settings. Cheryl Segaric attended the course that ran from May to September 2020.
Participating in the Scholarship of Educational Leadership (SoEL) program afforded me a unique opportunity to develop expertise in scholarly approaches to inform strategic quality enhancement and leadership initiatives in nursing education. One of the things I enjoyed most about the program was the opportunity to debate key issues in higher education with esteemed multi-disciplinary colleagues and leaders from across the university and explore implications for research design, methodology, methods, evidence-based practice and dissemination. The SoEL program also featured ongoing expert and peer feedback, which I found extremely beneficial towards supporting my pursuit of higher level knowledge and skill in areas of particular interest to my work in nursing education such as curriculum leadership, authentic assessment, and faculty development and mentoring.
