Congratulations to Dr. Helen Brown, Professor, and Catherine Liao, PhD Scholar, on receiving funding from the Community-University Engagement Support (CUES) fund for their two projects.

April 8, 2025
This year, a total of $727,014 has been awarded to 30 outstanding community-university projects, with grants of up to $25,000 each. From supporting Indigenous-led resource stewardship to expanding health care access for refugees, this year’s CUES funded projects highlight the power of partnership. Across B.C., UBC faculty, students, and staff are working alongside community partners to tackle urgent issues, like strengthening food security, protecting the environment, and advancing cultural resilience and social justice.
Among those receiving support this year are two very active researchers at the School of Nursing. The project descriptions below were provided by the project team during the fund application process.
About CUES: The CUES Fund helps UBC faculty, staff, and students work in partnership with communities by supporting community-engaged scholarship and learning. Unlike traditional funding models, CUES funds are paid directly to community partners, ensuring that historically, persistently, and systemically marginalized communities can access the resources they need to collaborate meaningfully with UBC.
