Envisioning Equality: Faculty and Staff Award Winners
In celebration of the achievements of women and gender-diverse faculty and staff, local artists will create a series of banners for display on UBC campus poles. Among those honoured using "the transformative power of art in public space"* is Dr. Sabrina Wong, one of UBC's first Envisioning Equality award winners.
The chair of the nominations committee is Naznin Virji-Babul, Associate Professor and Senior Advisor to the Provost on Women and Gender Diverse Faculty. She points out that "this is the first award of its kind initiated to highlight and celebrate exceptional women and gender-diverse faculty and staff at UBC."
Sabrina's research recognizes that not every Canadian is able to access and use the health care system. Her work strives to decrease health inequities among Canadian residents, such as people with language barriers or who live in poverty.
Her long-standing commitment to research has significantly contributed to further understanding and application of primary health care in helping to reduce health and health care inequities.
