PhD student Kerry Marshall has been selected as a 2022-2023 Killam Doctoral Scholarship Awardee. We reached out to Kerry, originally from Aldersyde, Alberta, for comment.

The title of Kerry's proposal is "Social justice in nursing education: A critical inquiry using discourse analysis."
In her master's thesis, Kerry explored fertility intentions and family planning experiences within the 2SLGBTQ community.
We heartily congratulate Kerry on this achievement!
I view my PhD as an opportunity to continue to explore ways that we can reduce inequities within healthcare and make services more inclusive and accessible.
I am humbled to be a recipient of this award and beyond grateful to be working with such a supportive, experienced, and dedicated team. I couldn't have done it without the help of my supervisors Dr. Bungay and Dr. Wytenbroek, as well as multiple other members of the UBC School of Nursing Team.

The Killam Doctoral Scholarships are provided annually from the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Fund for Advanced Studies. These are the most prestigious graduate awards available at UBC, and are awarded to the top doctoral candidates in the annual Tri-Agency Canada Graduate Scholarships - Doctoral (CGSD-D) and UBC Affiliated Fellowship competition. The scholarships include a stipend of up to $30,000 per annum for two years and a $2,000 allowance for research-related travel during the 24 months of the scholarship.
