Since becoming professor emerita in 2019, Dr. Wendy Hall has continued to make outstanding contributions in research, teaching, and community engagement. A pioneer in infant sleep health, Dr. Hall has led innovative studies, secured national funding, and helped develop an Indigenous elder-led parenting app. She remains Canada’s most sought-after expert on sleep, with over 50 media interviews in recent years, and has provided pro bono infant sleep consultations to more than 1,000 families. Her work continues to influence policy, healthcare practice, and public understanding of sleep health—locally, nationally, and internationally.
Dr. Hall's acceptance speech included profound thanks to Dr. Emily Jenkins for leading the nomination and Dr. Elizabeth Saewyc and Alison Eller, Clinical Practice and Operations Supervisor, Regional Early Years Public Health Nursing for Vancouver Coastal Health, for writing wonderful letters of support.
I am deeply honoured to receive the Emeritus College President's Award for Distinguished Service. This recognition from my colleagues in the College and from my nursing colleagues is very special. ... I have endeavoured to make a contribution to the health and wellbeing of families and children through supporting and promoting healthy sleep at home and abroad. It is an inspiration to have this work recognized. Thank you very much.
